Château de Montfort du Vernet la varenne

This castle from XII century, redesigned in the XVII century, overhang the town and the water body of Vernet-la-Varenne. The legend said that the Queen Margot sheltered there an affair.

Usson

Strongly marked by the two decades during which Marguerite de Valois, nicknamed “la Reine Margot”, stayed between its walls, the village of Usson preserved its heritage and highlights it.

Ranked as one of the most beaufitul villages of France, Usson is perched on a volcanic hill where used to be settled, a powerful fortress. On the top, an exceptional panorama is available to visitors on the chain of Puys, the Sancy massif and the mountains of Livradois – Forez.
